🚨 NEW LEAFLETS FROM TRANSIT WORKERS FOR A JUST CONTRACT 🚨

Transit workers across the MTA deserve better—and it starts with honest conversation and real action. We're calling on ALL transit workers to connect with Transit Workers for a Just Contract. Share your experiences, speak out on these issues, and help organize for a serious contract fight—one that matches the scale of the leadership crisis in our union and the affordability crisis in our lives.
We can't keep waiting for leaders with no clear demands and no real plan to fight back. Every day, we face the consequences of decisions made by MTA management—while our working conditions and cost of living get worse.
We believe the only path forward is working class solidarity and collective self-defense and unity. Our strength comes from standing together—united across all job titles and divisions—in a common struggle against the MTA bosses and the system that puts profits over workers.
✊ It's time to organize. It's time to fight for a contract that reflects our worth.
Together, we can win a real future for our union—and for all working-class communities.
Today TWU Local 100 leadership submitted 37 "Main Table" contract demands to the MTA bosses. Read them here
And just like in the last three contract "negotiations" in 2017, 2019, and 2023—
THERE IS NO REAL WAGE DEMAND!!!
The only thing they put forward is a call for "SUBSTANTIAL WAGE INCREASES IN EACH YEAR OF THE AGREEMENT."
We've seen this before. We know what it means. Nothing.
It's vague, it's weak and toothless, and it gives the MTA Bosses and the Union leadership complete freedom to decide what "substantial" is. And coming from a leadership that has never negotiated raises above inflation or the cost of living in the NYC area, it's even more meaningless.
In fact, these 2026 demands are worse than the last three contracts. At least in 2017, 2019, and 2023, they mentioned inflation, cost of living, or hazard pay. This time—even those basic benchmarks are missing.
Meanwhile, for nearly two decades, this same leadership has pushed through contracts that amount to effective pay cuts, forcing transit workers to fall further and further behind the cost of living in the city we serve.
"We move New York, but we can't afford to live here!"
That's why this United front of rank-and-file NYC Transit workers put forward demands for a "Fight for Fifteen" — $5 wage increases in every year of a 3-year contract — real wage gains, plus full COLA inflation protection and no givebacks.
And those demands were made before Donald Trump launched an illegal and offensive war against Iran, that proceeded to blow up the entire world economy.
So what are we being offered now?
Another round of vague promises. Another contract with no clear wage target. Another surrender dressed up as "negotiation."
At a moment when Long Island Rail Road workers are potentially heading toward a strike on May 16, 2025 as their contract expires, where is the effort to build real unity across all transit workers?
Have you heard a peep from union leadership about a coordinated fight? Why not?
That's the most obvious way to build real pressure—public, political, and labor—against MTA management and the Wall Street financial interests, the MTA Bond holders, that profit directly from our labor and decades of our sacrifices.
Transit workers deserve better than this. We deserve clear demands, real numbers, and a leadership willing to fight for them.
Transit Workers for a Just Contract will be putting out new flyers showing what a real "Fightback Union" should be proposing and fighting for. It will argue that if we want to fight back:
"We have to get Serious: They have the Money, But We Have The Power!"
It will also specifically explain how we can all win better contracts and protect the living standards of our families and our communities only through the greatest possible unity with our fellow transit worker brothers and sisters in the Long Island Rail Road unions.

These demands deserve all transit workers' consideration and support.
